- I am a lifelong camera addict! I started at age 8 with a Kodak Starmite camera purchased for $.50 and three candy wrappers. My collection now numbers 1500+. I love to shoot these old cameras! Plaubel cameras are a favorite of mine, and were the main focus of my passion, untill I found an even cooler camera. The Gaumont Block Notes camera made at the turn of the century in France was way cooler! It came in a tiny size 2 1/14 x 1 5/8th of an inch! This at a time when other cameras were huge. They were tiny handcrafted jewels that allowed those fortunate enough to afford them, to take a camera with them everywhere. Today this is taken for granted, but in 1900 it was an unheard of concept. I started searching for these elusive cameras at camera shows and auctions. In thirty years of searching, I have seen less than a dozen of these little jewels. I have been fortunate enough to aquire 5 cameras and many images taken with these cameras. I will be adding to this page many images of these items and other cameras that I feel might be of interest.
